A personal statement should include a lot of information about your talents. You're trying to sell yourself and your skills. It should also include the things you like however your personal statement must be snappy and not drone on and on about a single point and should express who you are easily and effectively. Your personal statement is about you hence why it is called "personal". It should reflect you in an interview for a job/university.
Personal statement
My name is Edward Batt and I am a student at Mid Cheshire College, I have been studying Games Design and Animation for the past two years.
I have a passion to draw characters and levels from computer games and my own design. I take inspiration from game artists like Yoji Shinkawa from Metal Gear Solid and Adam Adamwociz from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. I try to emulate their styles and techniques into my own drawings to improve and expand my skills.
Ever since I began playing video games I’ve always had an interest in how they were made and how the concept art for them was drawn. It has always intrigued me how a level has been designed or how a character or item was developed/animated. This has led me to pursue looking into game design and to develop my skills and begin creating my own levels or drawing concept art for a game. Looking into the concept art of a game show’s off the development cycle it has gone through from its initial inception to its final design.
I have played various video game consoles and on PC. This has gained me the knowledge for different ways to play a game, either through motion controls, mouse and keyboard or a controller. Playing various consoles has showed me the evolution of games from the early stages of 2D plains to the new generation of games and consoles boasting 4K capabilities.
I consider myself to be imaginative when it comes to drawing, as I like to experiment with different drawing techniques to see how far I can go from my own comfort zone. I am also willing to take on any criticism and use it to improve my work to further my skills at drawing. I also enjoy working with 3D, as using programs like 3DS Max help me improve at creating 3D models.
My main strengths are working within a team environment and taking on ideas from others, in contrast to that I also work well on my own and can produce work independently. When it comes to listening to instructions or ideas I focus on the key points of them and make sure to ask any questions to something I may not understand.
In my spare time I spend my day watching mostly world war one and two movies and looking up history about countries like Russia, Germany and France. I don’t consider myself a historian but history does interest me greatly and I like looking into the history of wars or countries I hear about. Playing computer games with Friends and hanging out is something I also enjoy spending my free time doing.
